Natalie Howard scored 17 points and Kirsten Stephens added 16 more to help lead the Salem Lady Tigers to a 52-35 win over Union Monday night to win the first round of district play in Owensville. Allison Jones added 10 points and captured nine rebounds for Salem who improve to 20-5 on the year. The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will face the St. James Tigers tonight in the first round of the district play at Owensville. Salem enters the game with a 15-9 record and suffered only two losses after January 1st. One of the losses came to St. James. The Salem Tigers Winter Sports Banquet will be held on March 6th with the meal beginning at 6:30 followed by the awards ceremony. At the banquet, the SCA Champion Boys and Girls Basketball Teams will be saluted as well as the cheerleaders.
St. Louis Cardinal Baseball will begin airing their spring training games on KSMO Radio beginning on March 3rd and 4th.
The Missouri Basketball Tigers, coming off their biggest win of the year over Oklahoma State, will host Oklahoma tonight starting at 6:00. KSMO will tape delay the game and it will be played back after the Salem Tigers district game in Owensville. Missouri is 16-9 on the year and 5-7 in the Big 12.
The St. Louis Blues will host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight as they will try to get back to the .500 mark with a win tonight. The Blues are 10 points out of a playoff spot with 22 games remaining. The Blues have won three straight games. The game will NOT be heard on KSMO Radio due to prior commitments to the Salem game and Missouri Tigers game.

Funeral services for Shirley Mae Meschke of Rolla, age 79, will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rolla. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Rolla. Memorials are suggested to the Redeemer Lutheran Church Family Life Center.
Graveside services for Ronald Edward Smith of Crescent City, CA, formerly of Salem, age 70 will be held Saturday at 1:00 at the Dry Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem.
