The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a stabbing, a traffic stop, fighting at school and loitering. On January 20
th at 2:01 in the morning, an officer was detailed to the Salem Memorial Hospital in reference to a stabbing victim. The report revealed that an altercation occurred between two males at the Wal-Mart parking lot. During the altercation a 25-year old Salem male cut and stabbed a 31-year old Salem male several times. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 25-year old for 1
st degree assault. He was incarcerated pending the application of warrants. On January 20
th at 8:13 in the evening, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation that led to the arrest of a 25-year old Salem female on a fugitive warrant from Pulaski County. She was incarcerated pending extradition. On January 22
nd at 12:20 in the afternoon, an officer was sent to the Salem High School in reference to two students fighting. The report led to the arrest of a 17-year old male and an 18-yaer old male, both of Salem for disorderly conduct. Both were issued summons to appear in court and released. On January 29
th at 8:19 in the morning, an officer was detailed to the Salem Jr. High School in reference to a fight. The report led to the detention of two 13-year old Salem female juveniles for assault. The juveniles were released to their parents and the report will be forwarded to the juvenile officer. On January 29
th at 8:43 in the evening, the driver of a vehicle was detained for loitering at the Cultural Resource Center on Highway 19. Further investigation led to the arrest of an 18-year old Salem male for possession of marijuana. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. The Salem Police Department also released their reports involving fraud, burglaries. On January 21
st at 3:28 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to someone fraudulently obtaining a prescription. The report revealed that person(s) unknown obtained a prescription of vicoden. On January 24
th at 8:14 in the evening, an officer was detailed to the 300 block of East Truman in reference to a burglary. The report revealed that person(s) unknown entered a residence and took cash, prescription medication and other items totaling $2,077. On January 25
th at 2:11 in the afternoon, an officer was detailed to the 800 block of East Hunt in reference to a burglary. The report revealed that person(s) unknown entered a residence by force and took tools and clothing valued at $720. On February 4
th at 7:21 in the evening, an officer was detailed to the 100 block of East Third in reference to a burglary. The report revealed that person(s) unknown entered a residence and took DVD’s and cigarettes valued at $37.48. The first of many health screenings was held at the Salem Memorial District Hospital in the last two weeks where citizens could get health lipid profile checks for just $15. Despite the bad weather, the hospital had 151 take advantage of this service. The hospital will have another health screening during the month of March as it will be Diabetes Alert Month. The times and dates of the screening will be announced on KSMO Radio and in the Salem News.
