With the snows received Sunday night and into the afternoon Monday, we feel it is necessary again to remind the public there are certain streets  within the city limits of Salem that have been designated as emergency “Snow Routes.” These streets shall have priority over other streets for the clearing of snow, ice or other debris: Third Street to the west from Highway 19 to Dilworth Lane, and Third Street to the east from Pershing Avenue to Iron Mountain Road; Fourth Street from Pershing Avenue to McArthur Avenue; Sixth Street (Rolla Road) from McArthur Avenue to Pershing Avenue; Jackson Street to the north from Sixth Street (Rolla Road) to the dead end; Tenth Street from Highway 19 to Walnut Hill Drive; Pershing Avenue from Tenth Street to Highway 32/72 East; Center Street from Highway 19 to Craig Industrial Drive; Carty Street from Highway 32/72 East to Center Street; Craig Industrial Drive from Highway 32/72 to Iron Mountain Road; Babb Lane from Highway 32/72 West to Roosevelt Street; Doss Road south from Highway 32/72 East to the city limits; Roosevelt Street to the east from Highway 19 to Babb Lane and west from Highway 19 to Wines Street; Wines Street from Roosevelt Street to Highway 32/72 West; Missouri Avenue from Highway 32/72 West to Third Street; Park Street from Highway 32/72 West to Sixth Street (Rolla Road); Franklin Street to the west from McArthur Avenue to Highway 72 and to the east from Highway 19 to Pershing Avenue; Dilworth Lane from Route J to Highway 32 West; and Center Street to the west from Missouri Avenue to Dilworth Lane. Remember to remove your vehicle from these routes when an accumulation of ice and snow is expected so that the route can be cleared. Your car or truck could be towed at your expense, or you could be sited for a parking violation.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their February meeting  tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and the minutes from the previous meeting will the summary of operations and statistics reports for January, followed by the nursing and ancillary service reports. Hospital Administrator Dennis Pryor will then update the Board with an auxiliary report, hospital activity calendar and legislative issues. In old business the Board will address the 2011 strategic planning goals update, the Community Health Needs Assessment, the Ozark Independent Health Alliance (OIHA) and there will be an Ebola update. During new business the Board will have a Finance Committee meeting report and address purchases made for the hospital. The February meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

The Salem Police Department released reports involving a traffic violation, a disturbance, domestic assault and loud music. On Saturday, February 7th 3:17 pm, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 600 block of North Henderson in reference to loud music. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 46-year old Salem male for a peace disturbance and disorderly house. He was issued summonses to appear in court and released. Later that night at 11:09, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 39-year old Salem male for driving while being intoxicated. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. On Sunday evening, February 8th at 10:14, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 37-year old Salem male for driving while being intoxicated. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. On Monday evening, February 9th at 7:05, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 800 block of South Hickory in reference to a disturbance. That investigation led to the detention of a 16-year old male juvenile for disorderly conduct. The juvenile was released to a family member and the report will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office. On Tuesday night, February 10th at 10:07, an officer was dispatched to the Salem Memorial Hospital in reference a 32-year old Salem female who was the victim of domestic assault. The investigation of the report revealed that a 33-year old Salem male had assaulted the female. Officers located the suspects’ vehicle traveling on County Road 5015 at a high rate of speed. A vehicle stop was attempted and the suspect fled to the area of Truman and Water where he exited the vehicle and then fled on foot. On Wednesday morning, February 11th at 12:10, the suspect was located at the Salem Memorial Hospital entering the building where the suspect resisted arrest but was taken into custody for second-degree domestic assault, felonious restraint, resisting arrest, and numerous traffic offenses. He was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. That same morning at 9:00, an officer transported a 25-year old Salem male to the Poplar Bluff Regional Psychiatric Center in Poplar Bluff, in lieu of a mental commitment order. That afternoon at 2:45, an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of North Henderson in reference to loud music. That investigation led to the arrest of a 46-year old Salem male for a peace disturbance and disorderly house. He was issued summonses to appear in court and released. The Salem Lady Tigers Basketball game with Willow Springs Monday night was postponed. The game has been rescheduled for today at Willow Springs. The boys’ games are already scheduled for tonight to begin at 6:00 at Willow Springs. The schedule for the games today is as follows: The girls JV will play at 4:00, the boys JV will follow at about 5:00, the girls varsity will play at about 6:15 and the boys varsity will play at about 7:45. These SCA conference games will be played, weather permitting. The Varsity girls enter the game with a 5-0 SCA record and 16-6 on the year. The Varsity boys are 12-10 on the year and 3-2 in the SCA. The girls and boys varsity games can be heard on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

The St. Louis Blues will be hosting Dallas tonight at the Scottrade Center to kick off a four game home stand at 7:00. The Blues have won their last three games and are four-point behind Nashville in the NHL Central Division. KSMO Radio will join the game in progress if time permits after Salem Tiger Basketball.

The St. Louis Rams named Frank Cignetti offensive coordinator on Thursday. Cignetti replaces Brian Schottenheimer, who left the Rams last month to take the offensive coordinator position with the University of Georgia. Cignetti served as quarterbacks coach for the Rams the last three seasons. He will now be head coach Jeff Fisher's lead offensive play caller.

Graveside services for Michael Ivicsics of Salem, age 62, will be held Saturday at the Family Farm at 220 Highway WW in Salem. All arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem.
