The Salem Police Department released their reports involving property damage, stalking and a disturbance. On Monday, February 9th at 1:37 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to property damage. The report revealed a 23-year old male from Rolla damaged windshields on two vehicles. The value of the damage is unknown. At 9:00 that night, an officer responded to the 100 block of South Carty in reference to stalking. The report revealed a 23-year old male from Rolla had damaged property and was stalking two females of Salem. On Wednesday, February 11th 11:37 pm, an officer was detailed to the 200 block of West Eighth in reference to a disturbance. The report led to the arrest of a 46-year old Salem male for disorderly conduct, damage to city property and resisting arrest. He was incarcerated and issued summons upon his release. The Public Water Supply District #1 has extended the boil order through Tuesday, February 17^th, for the area south of the Salem City limits on Highway 19. A major leak has been repaired and the water sample has been sent off for testing and it will take until Tuesday to get the results. New vendors, expansion of the market shelter and weekly special events are being planned for the 2009 Salem Farmers’ Market season.  Salem Area Community Betterment Association board members Chris Mathes and Mary Beth Cook, volunteer managers for the Salem Farmers’Market, will be hosting a market winter planning meeting for vendors.  The meeting will be held Tuesday, February 17th at the Salem TCRC in the Salem Freedom Activity Center beginning at 7:00 pm.  Items to be discussed at the meeting include a grant application to USDA to request funding to expand the farmers’ market shelter. The farmers’ market expansion was a recent project for the MS&T project management class, and growing numbers of vendors and customers interested in participating in the farmers’ market have encouraged a more comprehensive discussion of the expansion.  Details about the grant application and proposed design will be available at the meeting. Ideas for weekly special events at the market will also be discussed.  AmeriCorps VISTA member Eric Stevens will help to coordinate special events, such as cooking demonstrations, recipe exchanges, musical entertainment, and other special displays.  Rules and bylaws of the market organization will also be on the meeting’s agenda.  The Salem Farmers’ Market will open Saturday, May 2^nd, from 7:30 a.m. till noon.  Regular market hours are Tuesdays from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays 7:30 a.m. – noon.  To stay updated on the Salem Farmers’ Market news and events, visit www.salemfarmersmarket.blogspot.com.    

February is “Heart Month” and the Salem Memorial District Hospital located Highway 72 North will be holding a “Heart Health Screening” Tuesday through Thursday, February 17^th through February 19^th in the hospital library from 6:00 to 9:00 am. The Heart Health Screening will offer a Lipid Profile for $15, a Cardiac CRP for $10 and a pulmonary function, blood pressure and body fat percent tests for FREE. Be sure and FAST for accurate results. No food or drinks for 12 hours before the test. Water and medications are allowed. The Mountain View Liberty Eagles Friday night dashed any hope for the Salem Tigers to capture another SCA title as they beat Salem, 75-67. Mountain View was led by Derek Daniels who netted 31 points, while Salem was led by C.J. Smith with 23 points. Salem also had double digit scoring from Zach Pitchford with 16 points, Grant Gordon with 13 and Phillip Moser with 11. Salem had four players foul out in the contest: Grant Gordon, Ryan Settles, Phillip Moser and Andrew Kissir. Salem falls to 10-12 on the year and they will host Mountain Grove tomorrow night and it will be Senior Night.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers host Mountain Grove tonight and it will be Senior night tonight. Following the JV game, the seniors on the squad this year will be saluted. The JV contest will be at 6:00, followed by the ceremony and then the varsity game. You can hear the varsity contest on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

Matt Lawrence and DeMarre Carroll scored 13 points apiece as 17th-ranked Missouri remained perfect at Mizzou Arena this season with a 70-47 drubbing of Nebraska. J.T. Tiller added 11 points and four assists for the Tigers (22-4, 9-2 Big 12). Marcus Denmon ended with 10 points and four assists. Leo Lyons had nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The Tigers defense, the best in the Big 12, held Nebraska to 28.6 percent shooting from the floor to improve to 16-0 on their home floor this season.

Chris Mason stopped all 22 shots he saw for his fourth shutout of the season as the St. Louis Blues edged the Chicago Blackhawks, 1-0, at Scottrade Center. Brad Boyes scored the only goal of the game on assists from T.J. Oshie and Andy McDonald for the Blues, who had dropped four of six coming into the contest. The Blues host the Rangers tonight at 6:00 on KSMO.

Major League Baseball suspended Kansas City Royals minor league outfielder Jarrod Dyson 50 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cledis Satterfield of Licking, age 81, will be held this morning at 10:00 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will be in the Licking Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home in Licking.

Funeral services for Joseph Gilbert of St. James, age 52, will be held today at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Chapel in St. James. Visitation will be from noon until service time today. Interment will be in the Matlock Cemetery in St. James. Memorials may be made to the family of Joseph Gilbert.

Funeral services for Katherine Wade of St. James, age 67, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or St. James Caring Center. 

Funeral services for Ron McGuirk of Salem, age 51, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salem. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Funeral services for Arthur (Art) Stephens, Jr. of Salem, age 62, are incomplete at this time. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Salem.
