The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Monday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that workers would be repairing and servicing the equipment. They are also cleaning the spreader boxes, getting the salt and sand out of them so that they would be ready if needed again this year. Purcell also said that the workers may haul some brown rock if time allows. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that two men would be running the gravel plant. He also said that the spreader box from truck #114 has a bearing problem and workers will be repairing it. Larson also said that the back glass on grader #31 would be replaced as it was shot out a couple weeks ago. He went on to say that workers would also be cleaning the salt and sand out of the spreader boxes as soon as they can. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he attended a TAC meeting last Thursday before the MRPC meeting and that a number of maintenance projects are scheduled for Dent County. These projects include resurfacing part of Highway 72 north, resurfacing part of Highway 32 west, plus work on Route K and Route JJ. He said that MoDOT was also going to be doing shoulder work on Highway 19 from Steelville to Cherryville, and even though that is not in Dent County, it could affect traffic using that route. He also reported that MoDOT is considering extending the four-lane part of Highway 63 north of Rolla to the Maries County line. Skiles stated that he would be at the SACBA Volunteer Recognition Dinner Tuesday at the Grace Community Church, would be in Jefferson City Wednesday for a County Commissioner Association of Missouri meeting to reschedule their training and discuss legislative issues, and he would also be at the Youth Leadership Academy’s dinner Wednesday night. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.
