The Salem Police Department released their reports involving assaults. On January 23rd at 3:02 in the afternoon, an officer was sent to the 800 block of East Hunt in reference to an assault. The report revealed that a 27-year old female and a 23-year old male both of Salem, had assaulted a 19-year old Salem female. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 27-year old female for 2nd degree assault, felonious restraint and possession of cocaine. The 23-year old male was arrested for 2nd degree assault. Both were incarcerated pending the application of warrants. On February 2nd at 9:21 in the evening, an officer was dispatched to the 800 block of East Jack in reference to a disturbance. The report led to the arrest of a 28-year old Salem male for disorderly conduct. He was incarcerated and will be issued a summons to appear in court upon his release. On February 5th at 4:40 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to an assault. The report revealed that two male juveniles causing minor injuries had assaulted an 11-year old Salem male. Also on February 5th at 7:34 in the evening, an officer was detailed to the 1500 block of South Main in reference to a domestic disturbance. The report led to the arrest of a 22-year old Salem male for 3rd degree domestic assault. He was incarcerated pending the application of a warrant. At 11:00 the same evening, an officer was sent to the 800 block of East First in reference to an assault. The report revealed that 48-year old Salem male had assaulted a 24-year Salem male. He was arrested and charged with 3rd degree assault. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released.
The Salem High School Basketball Homecoming that was rescheduled for last night at the gym was postponed and will now be held at an assembly at the school once classes resume.
The regular monthly meeting of the Meramec Regional Planning Commission will be held tonight beginning at 7:30 at the MRPC office located at #4 Industrial Drive in St. James. Following the approval of the consent agenda, MRPC county board members will be given an opportunity to report on the County Commissioners workshop held February 6th thru the 8th, and Richard Cavender will report on the findings of the Rural High Speed Internet Task Force for which he was one of 25 individuals appointed by Governor Matt Blunt. Tammy Snodgrass will report on activities of the environmental department including solid waste activities, and the Homeland Oversight Committee activities. Amy McMillen will report on grants submitted and funded since the last meeting along with application deadlines and funding availability. Kraig Bone will report on MREPC activities, Tom Klebba will report on business loan activity, T.R. Dudley will report on workforce development activities and Richard Cavender will report on current MRPC activities in his Director’s report. The regular meeting of the MRPC is open to the public.

The Salem Girls Basketball game with the Ava Lady Bears that was rescheduled for Wednesday night was postponed and rescheduled for 6:00 Friday at the Salem High School Gymnasium. There will only be a varsity contest.
Tonight the Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will travel to Houston to face the Lady Tigers in a cat fight. The JV action will begin at 6:00 with the varsity contest to follow. Salem enters the game with a 17-6 record and 4-1 in the SCA.
The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers are seeded third in the district tournament in Union and will play Monday night at 7:30 against Owensville. You can hear that game on KSMO Radio and online at www.ksmoradio.com.
The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers game that was rescheduled for Wednesday was postponed again and will be held tonight. The varsity game will be held at either 6:00 or 7:30 depending upon the availability of the Ava JV team as they are in a tournament. The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers are seeded Second in the district play and will draw a bye in the first round and will play the winner of the Sullivan-Union game on Thursday, February 21st.
Keon Lawrence scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds, leading the Missouri Tigers to an 86-78 overtime victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a Big 12 tussle at the Devaney Center. J.T. Tiller added 14 points in the win for Missouri (14-11, 4-6 Big 12). Reserves Leo Lyons and Marshall Brown chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively. The Tigers shot 53.8 percent from the floor during the first period, opening a 41-30 halftime lead. The Tigers shot 50 percent from the field and hit 9-of-12 from the charity stripe during the extra frame, taking the seven-point victory on the road. Missouri's bench outscored Nebraska's bench, 34-6 for the game. Missouri will play Kansas State Saturday afternoon at 4:30 on KSMO Radio.
The St. Louis Blues return to action tonight as they will travel to Colorado to face the Avalanche starting at 8:00 tonight. KSMO Radio will air the game in its entirety or join the game in progress depending on the Salem Basketball start time.
