The National Park Service announces that there have been several changes lately to how Ozark National Scenic Riverways handles reservations for picnic shelters at Big Spring, Alley Spring and Round Spring. As of last Wednesday, to reserve a picnic shelter, you must go to www.recreation.gov. The new system will accept credit cards, which the park previously could not. Payments will be sent directly to Recreation.gov, not the Ozark Riverways or the National Park Service. You can now reserve one year ahead, so if you want a shelter on August 2, 2008, the earliest you can make reservations will be August 2, 2007. The Park Service hopes that these changes will make the process more convenient for everyone. This system will also allow park visitors to make campground reservations at National Parks, National Forests and other Federal recreation areas across the country. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the park office at 573-323-4236, ext 0.
