There are many important keys to the success of a business, but none are more important than controlling costs and increasing sales. To help area wood products industries manage costs and increase sales, the Missouri Forest Products Association is co-sponsoring a free, one-day workshop in Salem on February 21 at the Salem TCRC, 1200 West Rolla Road. Other co-sponsors are the city of Salem and Missouri Enterprise. The workshop is titled “Growing Profits for Missouri’s Wood Industries.” Participants in the program will learn how “Continuous Process Improvement, Energy Consumption and Waste Reduction, Marketing and Innovation” all fit together to translate into stronger companies with better bottom lines. Three of the presenters; Dave Goebel, Robert Beckmann and Rick Prugh, are experienced business and manufacturing professionals from Missouri Enterprise, a non-profit organization that provides hands-on assistance and training to help Missouri manufacturers succeed. The fourth presenter, Ivry Karamitros, is the International Marketing Specialist from the Missouri Department of Agriculture who specializes in finding export opportunities for forest products industries. There is no cost to attend the workshop, but pre-registration is required. To register, you can call Rick Prugh at 573-308-7581 or register on-line at www.missourienterprise.org and click on the workshop title under the seminars and events heading.
