The Department of Natural Resources' Division of Energy has issued $23,138 in weatherization sub-grant funds to the South Central Missouri Community Action Agency to help low income Missourians reduce home energy costs. The South Central Missouri Community Action Agency, or SCMCAA, is one of 18 Missouri agencies that implement the state's Low Income Weatherization Assistance Program, enabling low-income Missouri families to permanently reduce their energy bills by making their homes more energy efficient. The elderly, physically disadvantaged and families with children are program priorities. Since the program began in 1978, weatherization funds have helped to weatherize more than 155,000 Missouri homes. SCMCAA serves seven south central Missouri counties: Butler, Carter, Dent, Reynolds, Ripley, Shannon, and Wayne. The sub-grants to SCMCAA include $3,965 in funding allocated under a service area agreement with AmerenUE Natural Gas, $15,918 from Laclede Gas, and $3,255 from Atmos Gas. This funding is provided through agreements made in rate adjustment cases by Missouri utilities to weatherize additional homes in their service areas. The department's Division of Energy is a non-regulatory state office that works to protect the environment and stimulate the economy through energy efficiency and renewable energy resources and technologies. After many years of despair with losing seasons and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the city of New Orleans has a Super Bowl winner. The Saints erased an early 10-point deficit and beat the Indianapolis Colts, 31-17, to capture Super Bowl XLIV Sunday night in Miami. Drew Brees, who was named the game's MVP, connected with Jeremy Shockey for the go-ahead two-yard touchdown pass with 5:42 left in the fourth quarter. Tracy Porter then sealed the fate of the Colts, picking off four-time MVP Peyton Manning and returning the ball 74 yards for a touchdown with 3:12 left, thwarting Indianapolis' chance for a second title in four years. Brees tied a Super Bowl record with 32 completions, going 32-of-39 for 288 yards and a pair of scores. The Saints outscored the Colts, 15-0, in the last quarter.
