The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Monday morning. At the meeting District 1 Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 240, 418, 511, 513, 561, 565 and 609.  Simpson also reported that the pump and pressure tank had to be replaced in the well at the county shed.  District 2 Commissioner J.J. Tune reported that grading would be done on Dent County Road 212, on various white rock roads in the Boss area and also on the white rock roads around Salem. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that the county received a letter from the Department of Revenue concerning cart funding. The letter stated that Dent County had been overpaid $16,876.40 since fiscal year 2006 and this amount will be deducted from the counties cart funding over a 32-month period.  Skiles also reported that the Extension Office has a leak in the roof and he will be contacting Richard Ferranto to come look at it. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley wanted to encourage everyone to get out and vote today. Curley said Dent County polling locations will open at 6:00 am and will close at 7:00 pm. Mayor Gary Brown came by the meeting with former Dent County Emergency Management Director Jack Emory, so that he and Commissioner Skiles could present Emory with a plaque recognizing his 11 years of service to the county as emergency management director. The Commission will not be meeting on Thursday, because they will be in Jefferson City for their annual training session, so the next meeting of the Commission will be next Monday morning at 9:00 and that meeting will be open to the public.

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports involving theft. On February 3rd at 9:35 in the morning, the Dent County Sheriff's Department received a report of a burglary that had occurred at the Anutt Full Gospel Mission Church in Anutt.  The incident was reported to have occurred between the middle of January and the first of February.  Entry was gained through a rear door of the building.  Reported taken were a Hammer base guitar with case and a fireproof file box. Anyone with any information regarding this incident, which is still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Department by calling 729-3241.

The 19th Annual Missouri Youth Livestock Grading & Judging workshop at the Trowbridge Livestock Center in Columbia will be held on Saturday, March 8th.The registration deadline is Friday, February 8th at a cost of  $6.00 per participant. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture-the Agriculture Business Development Division, University of Missouri-Columbia, the Division of Animal Sciences and Extension Division-United States Department of Agriculture and the Livestock and Grain Market news, the workshop is for youth enrolled in the 8th Grade or lower. Entries are limited to a max of eight individuals from each 4-H Club or FFA Chapter. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers defeated Licking last night in the first round of the Newburg Tournament by the score of 53-36. Natalie Howard scored 30 points in the win followed by Allison Jones with 12 points. The Lady Tigers are now 15-5 on the year. They will face Newburg in the semi-final of the Newburg Tournament Thursday evening at 8:30. The winner of that game will play for the championship at 6:30 Saturday night. The loser will play for third place at 5:00.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Mountain Grove tonight to face the Lady Panthers in an SCA contest that was originally scheduled last Thursday. Salem is 2-1 in the SCA. JV action will start at 6:00 with the varsity contest to follow.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will travel to Mountain View to face the Liberty Eagles tonight in SCA play. Salem enters the game with a 15-6 record and 2-1 in the SCA. The JV will start play at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. You can hear the varsity contest on KSMO and online at www.ksmoradio.com.

Brandon Rush posted 19 points and six rebounds as fourth-ranked Kansas crushed Missouri, 90-71. Keon Lawrence had a game-high 25 points and added six assists for the Tigers (13-10, 3-5), who have dropped five of their last seven games. Kansas held Missouri scoreless from the three-point line. The Tigers were 0-of-10 for the game, marking the first time a KU opponent has not knocked down at least one three-point basket in a game since Colorado on March 9, 1996. The last time a Kansas opponent was held without a three-point field goal in conference play was Missouri on January 19, 1991.

Texas Tech head coach Bob Knight, the winningest coach in the history of Division I men's basketball, resigned, effective immediately. The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal first reported that Knight was retiring after he met Monday with Texas Tech athletic director Gerald Myers. Knight's son, Pat, who is in his seventh season with the Texas Tech program, will take over as the head coach.

The St. Louis Blues will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at the Scottrade Center starting at 7:30. KSMO will join the game in progress right after Salem Basketball. The Blues have lost eight of the last ten games.

Funeral services for Stella Leona (Pitts) Clay of Lowell, IN, formerly of Cook Station, age 93, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be today from 2:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Steelville.

Funeral services for Edna M. Dickens of Owensville, age 97, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 at the United Methodist Church in Rosebud. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Rosebud Methodist Church Cemetery in Rosebud. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James.

Funeral services for Willard T. Burrus of Salem, age 75, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at the James & Gahr Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.

Funeral services for Betty Lou Shorter of Rolla, age 68, will be held Thursday at 10:00 at the New Life Ministries in Evening Shade. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Interment will be in the Palace Union Cemetery in Evening Shade. Memorials are suggested to the New Life Ministries of Evening Shade, MO.

Funeral services for Erma Harrison of St. James, age 87, will be held Thursday at 1:00 at the James & Gahr Chapel in St. James. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the High Gate Cemetery in High Gate Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the High Gate Cemetery Fund.
