The Salem Lady Tigers gave the Willow Springs Lady Bears all they could handle Monday night at the SHS gym, but could not get the key basket when needed and lost to the Lady Bears, 36-29. Salem was led in scoring by Courtney Putman and Kaytlyn Wells with eight points each followed by Kristen Hemken with seven points. The Lady Tigers are 4-15 on the year and 1-3 in the SCA. They will host Thayer Thursday night in their final home game of the year and it will be Senior Night.
The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be on the road at Houston tonight in SCA play with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow at about 7:20. You can hear the varsity contest on KSMO Radio or online at ksmoradio.com Salem enters the game with an 8-11 record and 0-1 in the SCA.
Michael Dixon's trip from goat to hero took all of 25 seconds. After committing an offensive flagrant foul that helped Texas take the lead, Dixon converted a difficult left-handed floater with 31 seconds left to lift fourth-ranked Missouri past the Longhorns, 67-66 on Monday night. Dixon missed just once on the night, scoring 21 points off the bench on 9-of-10 shooting, while Phil Pressey and Ricardo Ratliffe added 13 points apiece for the Tigers (20-2, 7-2 Big 12), who claimed their second straight victory. Pressey dished out five assists in the win. Missouri will host rival Kansas on Saturday night at 7:30 and you’ll be able to catch that game on KSMO Radio.
