The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Thursday morning. In the road report, Commissioners Dennis Purcell and Gary Larson both reported that crews are busy pushing snow and ice throughout each district.  Commissioner Purcell said there is over 300 miles in District 1 and crews were expected to finish their routes by yesterday evening. He said the only difficulty crews have been experiencing is on the chip and seal roads, where it’s much harder to push the ice. Commissioner Larson wanted to let everyone know that if it is a county road it will be graded, but if it is a private road, the county will not grade it. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he received a phone call from Jerry Lough complimenting the Commission and the county on an excellent job of removing the snow and ice from the roadways. The Commission also took bids for unleaded gas for the county shed and bids for road pipes. At the previous meeting Commissioner Larson suggested that the county not try to bid out the License Bureau due to the lack of planning, lack of room and the lack of time to prepare a plan and all three commissioners agreed. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.
