The Salem TCRC will present a Workshop entitled “Choosing a Website Developer” on Tuesday, January 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The workshop will cover the steps involved in developing a website and will include information on local resources for businesses interested in having a website developed for them versus doing it themselves. City of Salem Economic Development Director Sharon Tubbs says local businesses are often interested in having a website but may not have the time or expertise to develop a website on their own.  This workshop will help those businesses wanting information about the website development process and what local resources are available. The Salem TCRC is located in the Salem Freedom Activity Center at 1200 W. Rolla Road. To register or for additional information, please contact the Salem TCRC at (573) 729-8163. This workshop is co-sponsored by the City of Salem Economic Development Department and there is a charge to attend.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) is once again offering high school sophomores a unique opportunity to experience careers available in the agriculture industry through the Missouri Agribusiness Academy.  This Agribusiness Academy is a tool that students can use in making career decisions and gain a great deal of knowledge about how the agriculture industry works. The Missouri Agribusiness Academy, established in 1988, annually awards academy memberships to 30 Missouri high school sophomores interested in pursuing agriculture-related college degrees and careers. Students are selected through a competitive written application and oral interview process. This year, Academy members will tour Springfield area agribusiness operations in June and will be introduced to leaders in agriculture, government and education.  Members will also be guests at the 2007 Governor’s Conference on Agriculture. To be eligible for the Academy, students must come from a farming family or be an active 4-H or FFA member. Applications are available from 4-H extension youth specialists, from FFA advisors, or by contacting MDA’s Market Information and Outreach Program at (573) 751-5618.  Applications must be postmarked by February 2, 2007.
