An accident happened Sunday at 12:45 in the afternoon on Highway 160 about two miles east of Tecumseh in Ozark County. According to the highway patrol report, 21-year old Joseph B. Rubczak of Rolla was driving a 2006 Chevy Cobalt eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side of the roadway. He then overcorrected and went off the left side of the road where the Chevy overturned. Rubczak suffered moderate injuries and was flown by Air-Evac to the Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The Chevy was totaled and removed from the scene by Dukes of Caulifield. Rubczak was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident.

An accident happened Saturday night at 11:00 in Crawford County on Highway 19 about four miles southwest of Cherryville. According to the highway patrol report, a 2008 Ford F-250 driven southbound by 29-year old Kevin McKellips of Cherryville, went off the right side of the roadway, then struck a road sign and a tree. McKellips suffered moderate injuries and was taken by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur in St.Louis. The Ford F-250 was totaled and removed from the scene by Miles and Sons Towing. McKellips was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident.

An accident happened on January 9^th at 11:04 in the morning on Highway 72. According to the Salem Police report, a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Warren Oliver of Salem was southbound and stopped in the center turn lane on highway 72 at J. The Chevrolet failed to observe a 1994 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 driven by Clyde Dinkins of Ironton that was northbound on highway 72. The Toyota attempted to avoid the Chevrolet, but the Chevrolet made contact with the Toyota. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Dinkins left the crash scene just after noon and requested medical attention after complaining of a headache and was transported by ambulance to the Salem Memorial District Hospital for treatment.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their monthly meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and minutes from the December 10^th meeting, will be the summary of operations and statistics report for December. The Nursing and Ancillary Services report and Call Light reports will follow. Hospital Administrator Dennis Pryor will then update the Board with an Auxiliary report, hospital activity calendar, legislative issues and the Patient Satisfaction Survey results for ER and Inpatient as well as the SMDH Rural Health Clinics.Following the Chief of Staff report, the Board will address the 2011 Strategic Planning goals update, the Community Health Needs Assessment, an annual bylaw review and the election filings. In new business the Board will discuss purchases made for the hospital and a conflict of interest policy review. The monthly meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

The City of Salem Board of Alderman will conduct their meeting tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers located at 202 North Washington beginning at 7:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and consent agenda in unfinished business, at the December 16^th meeting, the Board had requested proposals for the foundation removal, site cleanup and grading at 807 East Gibbs Street. City Attorney William Camm Seay had requested this item be postponed until he had a chance to review all documentation concerning this address. Attorney Seay will give his opinion concerning the bids. City Administrator Clayton Lucas will then report on various happenings around Salem and Mayor Gary Brown will then give his report on items concerning Salem. In new and miscellaneous business, Mr. Bill Dobbs term will expire on February 15^th with the Housing Authority Board. The Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority is recommending that Mr. Dobbs be reappointed for a term of four years and Mr. Dobbs has stated that he will gladly accept this re-appointment. City Administrator Clayton Lucas is requesting approval of two budget adjustments. The Board will adjourn the regular meeting and the vote to go into closed session for the purpose of discussing contracts and personnel. The meeting of the City of Salem Board of Alderman is open to the public.
