An accident occurred at 7:50 Friday evening in Dent County on Route B about eleven miles east of Highway 19. According to the highway patrol report, 18-year old Dillon Reynolds of Bunker was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse east when she lost control on the ice covered roadway, ran off the right side of the road, and overturned. An occupant, 17-year old Dakota Lundy of Bunker, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital by ambulance. They were both wearing seat restraints at the time of the accident. The Mitsubishi was totaled and removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing of Salem. 

The City of Salem Board of Alderman will conduct a meeting tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers located at 202 North Washington beginning at 7:00 pm. After approval of the agenda, the city requested bids for yellow pine 30-foot utility poles. Two bids were received that also had to include delivery price. City Administrator Clayton Lucas will update the Board on various happenings and Mayor Gary Brown will address items concerning the City of Salem. In new and miscellaneous business the Board will address closed session contracts. The meeting of the City of Salem Board of Alderman is open to the public.

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports. On Saturday, December 21st deputies responded to the Powell Storage Rentals for a report of unknown subjects dumping trash near the storage units. Powell advised deputies that he had video footage of a Dodge Durango with two male subjects dumping trash alongside his storage units. Suspect information was obtained from the video footage. On Monday, December 23rd deputies took a report of a mailbox being vandalized in the 4700 Block of Highway CC in Salem. On Wednesday, December 25th deputies responded to the 600 Block of County Road 2155 for a female subject threatening suicide and holding a male at gun point with a shotgun. At 8:29 am deputies arrived on scene and made contact with a male subject standing at the doorway of the residence. The scene and weapon were secured and both subjects were taken into custody and transported to the sheriff's office. The female was evaluated and later incarcerated into the Dent County Jail. The male was placed into custody for an active warrant. On Thursday, December 26th deputies received a report for theft of a credit device. It was discovered that a 53-year old female of Salem was the victim of fraudulent use of a credit card. A copy of her statement showed three charges to her credit card on December 13th to MSFT *Azure, which were to a website that is used to open and manage a business. On Friday, December 27th a Dent County Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 72 for speeding. The deputy received consent from the driver, 19-year old Christian Howard of Salem, to search the vehicle. The deputy recovered a small amount of marijuana, and inside that bag was a smaller bag with a grey powder substance that later field tested positive for heroin. Mr. Howard was released pending the application of warrants. Anyone with any information regarding an investigation is asked to contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Office by calling 729-3241.

Lane Duncan scored 25 points and the Licking Wildcats captured the Big Cat Classic Trophy beating the Salem Tigers, 54-49 Saturday night in Licking. Cody Whitaker led the Tigers with 24 points in the loss that drops the Tigers to 2-4 on the season. Salem is scheduled to play Cuba Tuesday night in the Owensville Tournament at 6:00 and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

The Salem Lady Tigers fell to Sullivan on Friday, 66-41. Cortney Putman had 11 points while Savannah Hanning added 10 points for The Lady Tigers. Salem is now 3-7 on the year and is scheduled to play at Mountain Grove today.

The Salem Boys 9th Grade Basketball Team won the St. Clair Tournament on Saturday beating St. Clair in the first game, 46-26 and then defeating Sullivan for the Championship by four points.

Shane Ray returned a fumble 73 yards for a game-clinching score and 9th ranked Missouri (12-2) defeated 13th ranked Oklahoma State, 41-31, in the matchup between former Big 12 rivals in the Cotton Bowl. Henry Josey ran for 92 yards on 12 carries with three touchdowns, while James Franklin completed just 15-of-40 passes for 174 yards with an interception.

Jabari Brown scored 22 points in 25th- ranked Missouri's 69-59 win over Long Beach State to cap the non-conference slate for both teams. Earnest Ross had 16 points and Jordan Clarkson added 11 as Missouri (12-1) extended the nation's best home winning streak to 26 games. Missouri will now open up SEC play on Wednesday when they host Georgia.

Patrik Berglund scored two goals and the St. Louis Blues handled the Columbus Blue Jackets, 6-2, on Saturday. Vladimir Sobotka, Maxim Lapierre, Jaden Schwartz and Alex Pietrangelo each had a goal for the Blues, who improved to 17-3-2 at home this season. The Blues will be in Edmonton on Tuesday to play the Oilers.

Andrew Luck led the Indianapolis Colts back from a 28-point third-quarter deficit by orchestrating five touchdown drives in the second half to lift Indianapolis to a wild 45-44 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card Round of the AFC playoffs. Alex Smith threw four touchdown passes while going 30-of-46 for 378 yards in defeat.

Funeral services for Marvin P. Lemke, age 83, will be held today at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be from 12:00 until service time.

Funeral services for Leita Faye Scott of Bismarck, Missouri, age 51, will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary Chapel of St. James. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 tonight. Interment will be in the High Gate Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Girls Scouts.

Funeral Mass for Jeannette Ann Till of Salem, age 83, will be Tuesday at 1:00 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Ruth Rambosek of Salem, age 91, will be held at 10:00 Wednesday morning at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salem. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Funeral services for James Herman Privett of Salem, age 75, will be held Friday at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Corinth Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Privett family.
