The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers lost to the St. Clair Lady Bulldogs by the score of 47-25 on Monday to fall to 2-10 on the year. The JV will participate in the Waynesville JV tournament starting tonight.
The Salem Tiger Boy’s Basketball team will be playing in Licking tonight starting with the JV contest at 6:00 followed by the varsity game. Salem is 3-6 on the year and you’ll be able to hear the varsity game on KSMO Radio and ksmoradio.com.
Marcus Denmon drilled a go-ahead three-pointer with a minute to play, and the clutch shot carried 8th ranked Missouri to a 75-68 victory over Old Dominion Friday night. Denmon finished with 19 points, all but two of which he scored in the second half for the Tigers (13-0). Kim English added 16 points for Missouri, while Phil Pressey and Ricardo Ratliffe both scored 14. Missouri will open up Big 12 play tonight as they will host Oklahoma and you’ll be able to hear the start of game at 6:30 on KSMO, then they will cut away for the Salem game and air the 2nd half on a tape delay basis afterwards.
Jimmy Howard made 31 saves to record his career-high fourth shutout of the season, and the Detroit Red Wings extended their home dominance with a 3-0 victory over the St. Louis Blues. Brian Elliott stopped 28 shots for the Blues, who suffered a season-high third straight loss. The Blues will host the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at 7:00.
The San Francisco 49ers locked up the number 2 seed and a first-round bye, but had to hold off a late-game rally by the Rams to earn a 34-27 victory Sunday. Kellen Clemons threw for 226 yards and a touchdown. The Rams (2-14) took a fairly large step backward from last season, when they went 7-9. On Monday the Rams fired head coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney.
Kyle Orton, who was released by the Broncos in November, threw for 180 yards for the Kansas City Chiefs to beat out the Denver Broncos on Sunday, 7-3. Dexter McCluster ran for the only touchdown of the game as the Chiefs finish the year with a 7-9 record.
The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly signed kicker Ryan Succop to a five-year contract on Friday and placed running back Jackie Battle on IR.
